Card of the Week - January 25th, 2011

Card of the Week
Date:  January 25, 2011

The majority of my cards and projects are designed to be very quick and easy to make and will need little to no instructions other than dimensions.  I have provided a list of products that I commonly use at the bottom.

Materials needed:

Cardstocks: Cherry Cobbler, Chocolate Chip, Very Vanilla
Inks:   Cherry Cobbler, Chocolate Chip
Punches: Scallop Oval, Large Oval, Scallop Circle
Embellishments: Very Vanilla ribbon, Chocolate Chip button
Stamp Sets: Family Phrases

Additional materials:  Ecru thread, Big Shot, Perfect Polka Dots folder, Mat Pack, Paper Piercer, glue dot

Instructions:

Base of card: Cherry Cobbler  (5 ½” x 4 ¼” – folded in half)
2nd layer:  Very Vanilla  (5 ¼” x 4”) – sponged edges with Chocolate Chip
3rd layer:  Chocolate Chip (5” x 3 ¾”)  - ran through the Big Shot using the Perfect Polka Dots folder

  • Adhere 2nd layer to base of card
  • Cut a piece of Very Vanilla ribbon 4 ¼  - adhere ends to back of card
  • Cut a piece of Very Vanilla ribbon 3 ½” – use to tie bow in previous attached ribbon
  • Punch:
    • 1 – Scallop Oval from Cherry Cobbler
    • 1 – Scallop Circle from Cherry Cobbler
  • Using the Mat Pack and Paper Piercer, pierce a hole in the center of each scallop of the Scallop Oval
  • Stamp “Happy Birthday” on Very Vanilla with Chocolate Chip ink and punch out with the Large Oval Punch – sponge edges with Chocolate Chip – adhere to Scallop Oval
  • Place a Glue Dot in the center of the back of the Scallop Circle
    • Using ecru colored thread, place the end on the glue dot
    • As you run the thread between the scallops, attach the thread to the glue dot
    • Once you’ve finished, cut the thread, attaching the end to the glue dot
  • Thread 2 or 3 rounds of thread through the center of the button, adhere to center of Scallop Circle using 2 glue dots or Sticky Strip
  • Adhere the 3rd layer (chocolate chip) on top of the 2nd layer (Very Vanilla)
  • Adhere “Happy Birthday” in upper right hand corner
  • Adhere  your scallop circle to the bottom left hand corner of your card using Sticky Strip
  • Add a piece of Very Vanilla to the inside of the card for journaling.  (I sponged the edges of mine with Chocolate Chip)
