Small Rag Purse

I'm going to be teaching a class this week on how to make these.

These purses are so fun to make!  I've made them in 2 sizes (2 squares wide as pictured and 3 squares wide).  They are made by running 5" wide fabric strips (folded into 5" squares) through the Big Shot using the Scallop Square Die from Stampin' Up!.  Once you have those cut out, you insert a 31/4" square of batting between 2 scallop squares.  Sew an "X" on each square (from corner to corner), then sew the squares together.   I have NOT clipped the scallops and washed it to give it the "Rag" look.

I've also made a wallet, sachets, baby doll blankets and coasters.  See Scallop Square to view the things I've posted.

I know these instructions are very basic.  If you have any questions, let me know.

  1. I love my coffee purse still! If I lived nearby I would love to take a class with you. Wanted to tell you too that I like the fabrics in this picture - has sort of a prim americana look to it :)

  6. Kelly, this is so cute! You commented on my chevron rag quilt the other day and said you did rag projects as well---now I see what you mean! I am into die cutting as well and own the big shot and the scalloped square die---I can't wait to try this out!

I hope you'll consider joining my tote bag challenge I'm hosting over the month of Nov. There's a button for it on top of my side bar: Solids-Only Tote Challenge. It's a challenge, not a competition, but it's fun and easy, and I hope you'll consider it.

    Take Care,
    Rikka J.
