A Few Hamdmade Cards

I have been out of practice with making cards, but decided I wanted to make a few. These aren't some of my best, but thought I would share anyway.  Since several of my ink pads are dried up, I was a little limited. It's been so long that I've forgotten some of the techniques and probably even some of the tools that I have. 😊

I'm a little late on getting these sent. My niece got married in February and her 21st birthday was last week.

One of my friends was a big help to me last weekend and this week found out he's going to be a grandpa later this year.

All cards are made with Stampin' Up! papers and inks.

Turtle Thank You Card

I had fun making this card.  I found the turtle on Pinterest and had a friend I wanted to make a card for using him.  He's helped me "come out of my shell" over the past year, so I thought it was fitting.  :)

I found the pattern for the turtle on Tarheel Stamper.  I used different colored card stock than she did.  I used Garden Green, Wild Wasabi, and So Saffron.  The stamp set has been discontinued.

Blue Bird Card

The sister of one of the Softball players on the team for whom the card I posted yesterday was made for, tweeted updates through their games so I could post it on our Connect! Madison County Facebook page to keep our readers informed of their progress while they were at the Little League World Series. This is the Thank You card I made for her.

I CASED this idea from Lisa Vale.  I didn't have all of the punches that were used, so I had to use what I had, but I think it came out pretty close.  I used Marina Mist card stock for the bird and base of the card.  The branches and 2nd layer are from Certainly Celery.  "Thank You" is a retired image from Stampin' Up!  The background is done by using Chocolate Chip card stock with the Woodgrain embossing folder from Stampin' Up!

Materials Needed:

Card Stock: Marina Mist, Certainly Celery, Chocolate Chip, scrap of Pumpkin Pie
Inks: Marina Mist, Certainly Celery (sponging), Pumpkin Pie (sponging)
Embossing Folder: Woodgrain #127821  $7.95
Sizzlet: Little Leaves #114511 $5.50
Punches:  1 3/4" Circle, Scallop Circle, Scallop Oval, Large Oval, 1/2" Circle

Bird:
1 3/4" Circle Punch (body)
Large Scallop Oval punch (wings, tail, and topknot)
1/2" circle punch (white of eyes - sponged with Marina Mist ink)
Black of the eyes I used circles from a border punch I have
White dot in the eyes I used the Stampin' Write white gel pen
Eye Lids are from Marina Mist - 1/2 circle punch, cut in 1/2 and sponged with Marina Mist.  I adhered them with Dimensionals
Beak is a triangle from Pumpkin Pie

I sponged all of the edges with ink to match the papers

I adhered the bird to the card using Dimensionals

Baby Shower Thank You

My youngest daughter's baby shower was this past Saturday.  We spent today washing the baby's clothes and making her Thank You notes.

I LOVE this baby holding the football.  I wish we would have had it when we made her invitations.
