Flash Drive Case Tutorial

I love making things out of scallop squares!!  They are so fun!  This is one of my latest creations.  I needed something to protect my flash drive in my purse one day and made one from a scallop square I already had on hand.

 Insert your flash drive

When you are ready to use it, pull on the key ring and it will come right out.

Here are the steps to make one yourself.

These are the supplies you will need.  They make great stocking stuffers.

Sizzix Big Shot
Scallop Square Die

{To order a Big Shot and/or Scallop Square Die, visit Stampin' Up.  If you don't currently have a demonstrator, please select me, Kelly Mathews (Indiana).  If you have any questions, please let me know}

2 scallop squares (cut a 5" strip; fold into 5" squares and run through the Big Shot)
1- 3 1/4" square of batting.
1 - key ring
1 - strip of fabric 2" x 7 1/4"
1 piece of fusible interfacing - 1/2" x 7 1/4"

Iron your strip in half length wise

Open and iron each side in half to meet the center crease

Insert interfacing under one side and iron

Fold in one short end about 1/4", iron

Fold in half, iron

Stitch along the side and the "hemmed" end of your strip.

To create the "sandwich", pin the batting between your 2 scallop squares and stitch an "X" in the center from corner to corner.

Stitch your key ring to your strip.

Fold the top of your square down 2 scallops and insert the unhemmed end of your strip underneath the fold, 2 scallops from the edge, stitch.

Fold your scallop square in half (make sure to pull your strip out) and stitch side and bottom.

This is a great scrap buster project.  I keep several of these squares on hand.  The make great sachets (sew 2 of them together with a small bag of lavender in between them), coasters, and more.  The possibilities are endless.  I started out making purses with them and have since made a variety of things.

Let me know if you have any questions.
