Word Of The Year 2021 - Progress

My word for 2021 is Progress. My main goal for this year is to pay extra on the principal on my mortgage. I just moved here in November last year with a 30 year loan. I'd love to pay it off a lot sooner than that. My second goal is to find a job/career that better fits my personality and offers room for growth.

This is the page I created for my Happy Planner for this year's Word of the Year.

Paying Down My House Tracker

This year my main goal is to pay down my house. I just bought it in November and was able to put a nice size down payment on it from equity in my previous home. I plan to put as much towards principal this year as possible. Let’s see how I end up doing. I'm off to a good start with my January payment.   My current pay off date is 12/1/50!  I'm hoping to retire long before then since I'm now 56.  :)  I'll post it all filled out this time next year.

UPDATE- As of my June 1st payment I've paid enough to take 18 months off of the loan.  Current payoff now is June 2049.  I've cut back on spending, but mainly because my car lease was ending soon and my new lease if quite a bit more than the one I had.  I should have shopped around more, but I really liked it and all of the dealers around here were very low on inventory.

Things I've done to pay extra:

  • I take 1/2 of my payment out of each check (my payment is $540 so I take $275 out of each check) = $10 towards principal
  • I sold some gold jewelry that I had I wouldn't be wearing
  • I set a certain dollar amount on my paycheck and anything over that amount goes towards the house payment
  • Anything I sell - craft items, rummage sale, etc
  • Since I take 1/2 of my payment out of each check, at least 2 months out of the year you'll have an extra pay = more money towards principal
  • If you play the lottery, any winnings go towards the house payment (I buy 2 - $1 scratch offs a week......big spender :))
  • In January I got paid for sick days I didn't use last year.  I put that towards the principal.

Make it fit your lifestyle and have fun coming up with ways to pay extra towards the principal.  If you stop all unnecessary spending and put that money towards the principal, you'd be surprised at how fast you could pay it down.

Fall Bucket List - Happy Planner

My Fall Bucket List is fairly plain and simple this year. I used gold boxes from the first Colorful Boxes sticker book from The Happy Planner and most of the scripts came from last year’s Fall sticker book as well as some of the decorative stickers. A few of the stickers came from a couple of sticker sheets from Brianna Nicole Designz Etsy Shop. I've already been able to mark 2 things off of my list. That's a win, especially considering it's 2020.  LOL

Penguin Bookmarks for The Happy Planner

Aren’t these bookmarks adorable? I made them for my daughter who is a penguin lover.

For the top 2, I ordered the die cuts from Craft Penguin Planner. She has a website and an Etsy store. Be sure to follow her on IG and join her Facebook group so you don’t miss out on specials.

The bottom one, I used puffy stickers I had on hand. The snowflakes in the top one also came from the puffy sticker sheet.

I used 2 pieces of scrapbook paper cut to size. I adhered them wrong sides together, then I adhered the penguins. I put them all 3 in a 9 x 12 3ml laminating sleeve and ran them through my laminator. Once they cooled, I gently punched them with my Happy Planner punch. I typically put the punch on the floor and gently press with my foot.

Happy Planner “April” Memory Page

I decided this year I’d make a special sheet for each month this year to have a “memory page”. I obviously decided to do that before we were in a pandemic. 😊  I got this idea from Planning with Bumble. If you don’t follow her on YouTube and Instagram, you should. She is amazing.

Happy Planner Classic Weekly Spread

I use this planner to plan what actually happened the week prior. Kind of like memory planning, but without pictures. I used the Squad Life  journaling stickers in this spread. I’ve not used journaling stickers for awhile. I like how they hide the clutter and give your spread a cleaner look. This spread is in my Happy Planner Classic Squad Plans Planner.  With being limited on plans due to the virus, there's not a lot to put in it.

Other stickers used are from various sticker books, Etsy shops and some that I made for personal use.  Do you like using the journaling stickers?

Happy Planner Family Birthday Tracker

This tracker was really fun to make. I used the Celebrate sticker book from the Happy Planner for most of this project.  The letters for “birthdays”, I purchased at JoAnn. The letters for "Family" I've had for years. The monthly stickers are from Plan to Plan Sticker Co Etsy shop. I have plenty of room to add birthdays as our family grows.

I have a dedicated notebook just for my single pages.

Hello Spring 2020

While we are dealing with the Coronavirus and unable to go anywhere, I decided not to do a spring bucket list. Most of these stickers came from the Spring sticker book. Did you create a bucket list?

My Favorite Things

How are you dealing with the Stay At Home Order if it’s in effect in your area? I’m a natural homebody and my job is considered essential, so I’ve not been affected a lot. We typically go out and about on Saturday’s, usually hitting some craft stores, run errands and eat out at least once. I am missing that.

I saw one of the YouTubers that I follow do a page like this and thought it was a cool idea. Please excuse my handwriting.

Summer Lovin’ Bucket List

It’s been a bit since I’ve posted. I started a side hustle and got engrossed in it. I’ve still been planning, but not taking pictures and creating posts. I created a few single pages today. I’ll do a post for each of them. Hopefully the virus craziness is over so we can do most of these.

I used the Spring sticker book from the Happy Planner for most of this page.

Happy Planner Classic Sticky Notes Page

I created this sticky notes sheet for a swap that I’m participating in. She had asked for sticky notes, so I thought this was a fun way to send them to her.

The base is a piece of card stock that I cut to fit a Classic sized Happy Planner. I added the washi then punched with my Happy Planner punch. The sticky notes mostly came from accessory packs that I have.

Weekend Getaway - Happy Planning

We went to Newport, KY and Cincinnati, OH a couple of weekends ago. We had a great time with beautiful weather. We arrived in KY a little early, so we stopped by AC Moore craft store. We don't have any around here. We'll definitely go back. Then stopped at LaRosa's Pizza for lunch before checking into our hotel. We got settled, then took the shuttle to Great American Ballpark for the Reds game. It was a great game. The Red's won against the St. Louis Cardinals 6-1. We took the shuttle back to the hotel. The next morning we ate at the hotel, then off to the Aquarium. Such a neat place!! We stayed there for a little over an hour.  I loved the penguins.  I'd never seen a white alligator either.  We walked around the levee a bit, had lunch at Five Guys and stopped at Cold Stone Creamery for ice cream and then headed home.

Some of the stickers I used I've had for awhile, some I made with my Silhouette Cameo and others I picked up at AC Moore or Hobby Lobby.

Have you been to AC Moore?  The cashier said they are starting to build them towards the west, so I hope they come to IN soon.  I was disappointed they didn't have more Happy Planner products and fabric, but still a very neat craft store.

This is in my Road Trips and Weekend Getaways planner.
The baseball letters I found at AC Moore.  I wish I had purchased a few more packages.

This page folds open......

To this. I put the 2 pages together and put washi down the center on both sides for it to fold easily.

For the pictures, I created a collage in the PhotoGrid app, then uploaded
to Walgreens to be printed, and cut them apart

This is on the back of the bi-fold

Happy Planning - Monthly Spread - September 2019

I used date covers from Plan to Plan Sticker Co in my September Monthly spread in my Farmhouse Classic Happy Planner. It's hard to believe that it is September already!  This year is just flying by!!!

Fall Date Nights

I ordered a sheet of Fall Date Night Stickers from Brianna Nicole Designz. With them being smaller stickers, I decided to use a 1/2 sheet instead of a full sheet.  I added the leaf washi down the side and re-punched it.   The stars and black hearts are from a MAMBI sticker book.  The orange dots are from Lexington Flair.

YouTube Subscriber Tracker - Single Page

I started my YouTube journey in April this year as another creative outlet. It's a learning experience that I'm enjoying. I keep most of my videos under 10 minutes as I'm one that when watching videos, I don't want a bunch of jibberish. I just want to know the information I was seeking when I clicked on the icon.

Since creating this single page tracker for my Happy Planner, I'm over half way to 100 subscribers. It's not growing quickly, and that's OK. I'm far from being a pro, but it is a lot of fun.  Check out my channel and let me know what you think.

The tripod stickers are from Brianna Nicole Designz

Happy Planning - Single Page - Red's Game

This is a single page for my Happy Planner that I created for a Cincinnati Reds game that we went to last month. The weather was really nice and a great day for a ball game.

I'm going to start a Happy Notes for Making Memories and do a single page for the different events and places we go that are not an actual vacation. I have a Happy Notes dedicated to Vacation Memories.

I created a collage print in the Photogrid app and had it printed at Walgreens. I adhered it to a piece of card stock. The baseball stickers are Stick-a-bilities from Hobby Lobby. The Red's stickers I made myself. The baseball washi I purchased at Hobby Lobby. The base is white card stock with washi down the side, then I punched it with my Happy Planner Classic sized punch.

Happy Planning - Single Page - Little 500

This is a single page I created for my Happy Planner for The Little 500 race we attended in May. This race ran at a local track the night before the Indy 500. It was my 2nd time going. It's a lot of fun. They race Sprint cars.

I'm going to start a Happy Notes for Making Memories and do a single page for the different events and places we go that are not an actual vacation. I have a Happy Notes dedicated to Vacation Memories.

I created a collage print on the Photogrid app and had it printed at Walgreens. I adhered it to a piece of card stock.  The car and flag stickers I made myself. The base is white card stock with washi down the side, then I punched it.

Recipe Planning - Crunch Jumble Cookies

Crunch Jumble Cookies are a little time consuming, but are really good!! What is your favorite cookie recipe?

I made some measurement and ingredients stickers with my Silhouette Cameo. I'm not sure that I like just having a few mixed in with my handwriting (which isn't great).

Recipe Planning - Chipped Beef Casserole

I'm not very good at recipe planning. This one is very plain and basic. I'd love for MAMBI to come out with a recipe sticker book with measurements, ingredients and cooking graphics. I made a few of my own, but not sure I care for mixing them in with my writing.

If you like chipped beef, you'll love this recipe. If you try it, leave me a comment and let me know what you thought.

Recipe Planning - Teriyaki Steaks

This is a quick and easy recipe that we made a lot in the summers. We'd have baked potatoes and a vegetable with them.  This is one of my favorite things to have on the grill, pork chops are my favorite. What is your favorite thing to fix on the grill?
